Thank you Covid

    calligraphy, pen, thanks

Covid – you have turned our lives upside down, forced us to change and adapt at a rapid pace. You made us face up to and conquer challenges that we never thought would be possible. You pushed us to our limits, only to help us realise our true potential. You opened up our eyes to the small things and encouraged us to appreciate their significance. You have influenced new ways of working, of living, of communicating. Covid, you have changed us.

You have pushed pause on many things but one with lasting benefits is climate change. You have helped us to reduce our travelling miles, brightened up the skies and cleared our air. We are cleaner, infinitely more aware of passing germs. How though, has it taken a global health pandemic to make the world a more hygienic place? Whatever the answer, thank you Covid for making everywhere, more sanitary.

Neighbours have become extended family, delivery drivers are now pals and takeaway owners are now our friends. Communities have been made stronger and businesses have become more accepting. Covid – you have given us an insight into our colleagues home life, legitimised hoodies and joggers to be the norm and allowed us to learn more about the families that support working life.

Placing the world into a state of comatose, you have magnified the value of our families and  fostered invaluable time with our children. You have confirmed that our children’s teachers are heroes and without question, irreplaceable members of our society. You have reminded us of the significance of patience and understanding and reinforced the importance of kindness and generosity.

My personal note of thanks: I am thankful to Covid for bringing Brand Culture to life. For being the push I needed to make it happen and for affording me the time to build its foundations. I’m appreciative for the indirect relationship counselling, for confirming that we really are stronger together. Covid, you have made me a better parent. I have been able to learn new things about my children and found new ways to understand them. I have valued our time together more than ever before. I am grateful for the push to be healthier and fitter. Thank you for taking away all other recreational activities and imposing walks, muddy strolls, country ambles and field hikes. I am leaner for it. Though challenged by the luxury of fine dining at home and continuous availability of fresh baked items, thank you Covid for improving my culinary skills and perfecting my baking hand.

    Goodbye Covid

Through all the suffering, loss and sadness that you have delivered, Covid you have taught us so much. We wish you had done it differently, but we are thankful for the lessons and positive changes you have left behind. It is now time for you to leave us be – Goodbye Covid and with respect, good riddance.
